New North Stradbroke Island bus services boost connections

New and expanded bus services are now operating across North Stradbroke Island, improving links between Dunwich, Amity Point and Point Lookout and strengthening connections to ferry services for both residents and visitors

New and improved bus services are now operating across North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah), delivering more travel options for residents and visitors as part of the Queensland government’s plan to strengthen public transport across the region.

Route 880 has added daily services timed to meet earlier ferry arrivals and later ferry departures, offering more flexibility for passengers. A seasonal timetable is also in place, adding extra services during school holidays, public holidays and weekends to manage higher passenger demand.

Route 881 has been extended from Amity Point to Dunwich for the first time. The service now begins at the One Mile ferry terminal and travels via the Junner Street terminal and the Quandamooka Arts and Culture Centre before continuing to Amity Point. The extension provides a direct one-seat journey for residents and gives visitors arriving by ferry improved links to Dunwich.

Translink says the upgraded North Stradbroke Island bus services were developed with Bay Island Transit Systems to respond to community needs and support tourism activity. The changes also offer an alternative to private vehicle travel, particularly for those moving between ferry terminals, beaches and island townships.

More information on updated routes and timetables is available on the Translink website.
