Weird and wonderful

China is a mystical land full of novel ideas and designs, the latest being a 9 metre electric bus, which its manufacturers would like to see on Australian roads

Weird yet wonderful, a Chinese bus manufacturer is looking for an Australian partner for its new electric bus program.

PowerPro Manufacturing’s Managing Director Sing Chan is soliciting companies to partner their 9 metre, 37-seat aluminium alloy vehicle which he says is road-ready at $US 170,000.

“Our pure electric bus has been running successfully in China and our cost is extremely competitive compared to the cost of some US made diesel buses,” Chan says.

“We employ the latest aluminium alloy unit body to build our frame and we employ the most reliable traction battery to power the bus.”

The maximum drive speed is 80 km an hour, a possible limiting factor for Australian roads, with a drive range of 180km.

The electric bus will be at the World Wide Electric Vehicle Symposium – EVS 25 – at Shenzen, China from November 6.
