Volvo wins second consecutive QBIC outstanding employer award

Second time is still a charm for Volvo Bus Australia as it celebrates taking home another fulfilling QBIC award at the annual conference

For the second year running, Volvo Bus Australia has accepted the ‘Outstanding Employer Award’ at the recent Queensland Bus Industry Council (QBIC) conference in April.

Volvo Bus Australia general manager Mitch Peden says taking home the ‘Outstanding Employer Award’ for a second year running was a special moment for the Volvo Bus team.

“It’s an honour to have received this award for the second time,” Peden says.

“While it’s not why we do what we do, it is certainly very nice to have Volvo’s efforts in fostering a positive corporate culture recognised – and we hope that approach flows through to our contribution to the rest of the bus industry.”

QBIC’s criteria for winning the award required the nominated employer to demonstrate a genuine commitment to fostering a culture which enhances the image of the industry, develops the potential and skill sets of employees and that values employees and strives to retain talent.

“We are very proud of having a very diverse team across gender and cultural backgrounds,” Peden says.

“Embracing a supportive and inclusive culture has always been a central focus for Volvo Buses. With our principles being at the core of everything we do, we strive to retain, develop, motivate and empower our employees. This in turn supports and empowers our customers, as they develop strong and long-lasting business relationships with our team.

“We’d like to thank QBIC for the acknowledgement. As always, we strive to be the best business partner we can be for the Queensland bus industry, and having this acknowledgment of being an outstanding employer truly highlights how important people are to what we do.”
