The Victorian government has announced a raft of major rail projects designed to upgrade regional Victoria’s rail network, with the state’s bus and coach network being key to the project going ahead.
The super spring build begins with key infrastructure for the South Geelong to Waurn Ponds Duplication starting, with coaches to replace trains to keep the network running.
Coaches will replace trains between Geelong and Warrnambool from Saturday September 2 to Sunday September 10, as well as from November 8 until November 23.
As major upgrades to the Shepparton line are delivered in October and November, replacement buses and coaches will also become critical so that the third and final stage of works can be completed.
While sleepers and ballast will be replaced and more than 25km of track will be upgraded, coaches will replace trains between Southern Cross and Shepparton from October 1 until November 24.
V/Line will also carry out important maintenance works on the Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough lines, as well as the Seymour, Shepparton and Gippsland lines.
Coaches will replace trains between Bacchus Marsh, Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough from September 16 to September 28, while coaches will run between Seymour and Southern Cross from October 22 and November 10.
Lastly, coaches will operate between Southern Cross, Traralgon and Bairnsdale from November 23 to December 9.
