In a bid to encourage more women to consider bus driving as a career path, Ventura recently hosted a highly successful Women at the Wheel employment open day at its Dandenong Depot.
Started in 2017, the Women at the Wheel event was the first of its kind in the industry, hoping to increase representation of women in the traditionally male-dominated space.

As of February 2025, the percentage of female employees at Ventura reached its highest level to date, reflecting the company’s ongoing efforts to build an inclusive and equitable work environment.
“At Ventura, we are dedicated to creating a workplace where everyone has equal opportunity to succeed, regardless of gender,” Ventura Bus Lines people and culture manager Kim Caldow says.
“The Women at the Wheel event highlights our commitment to breaking down barriers and fostering a more diverse workforce.
“It’s inspiring to see so many women eager to take the next step in their careers, and we’re excited to continue supporting them on this journey. The increase in female representation within our workforce is a direct result of these efforts, and we are proud to be an industry leader in this space.”
The event provided participants with the opportunity to learn about Ventura’s fully funded licensing and training program, designed to support individuals aspiring to become professional bus drivers.
Attendees had the chance to engage with Ventura’s recruitment team, discover career pathways, and gain valuable insights from female bus drivers who shared their personal experiences and expertise. These conversations helped to inspire and empower attendees, offering guidance on how to successfully navigate the transport industry.
