TRS enhances technician safety in service process

TRS is building on its decades of experience in the heavy vehicle sector to make the bus and coach HVAC servicing process safer for its technicians

For more than 40 years, TRS has been a well-known name in the transport industry, becoming a leader in the refrigeration services sector while also servicing air-conditioning units on heavy vehicles.

The latter has seen TRS become an important part of the nation’s bus and coach industry, as TRS has grown to be a safe and reliable servicing provider for bus and coach HVAC systems.

Through its St Peters branch in New South Wales, TRS is continuing to develop its expertise for both refrigerated road transport clients and numerous Australian bus and coach operators outside of just focusing on the vehicle.

“At TRS St Peters, we understand the importance of keeping your bus or coach’s air-conditioning system in its optimal working condition,” TRS St Peters branch manager Paul Wilson told ABC.

“While we ensure your bus or coach receives a premium services, we’re also prioritising the safety of our technicians as they’re performing their duties.”

Like any good business, TRS is giving special attention to its network of technicians that help keep Australian bus and coach HVAC systems in top condition. With the majority of air-conditioning units being situated on top of the bus, technicians often need to work from a height, presenting its own safety threats.

Recent moves from the TRS St Peters team have resulted in technicians receiving a variety of new safety equipment to help remove the dangers of working on the roof of buses and coaches.

“To prevent falls and other accidents during the servicing process we have, at our St Peters branch, safety harnesses which allow our team members to safely access the roof of the vehicle to perform the service,” Wilson says.

When it comes to roadside servicing, Wilson understands the dangers involved. As tempting as it may be, even if the issue is minor or the customer is on a tight schedule, technicians don’t have the necessary safety equipment with them when performing roadside servicing, such as the TRS safety harnesses. This means technicians have a higher risk of injury, especially when working at a height.

“Additionally, the roadside environment can be unpredictable, with passing traffic, uneven ground, inclement weather and other hazards making the task even more dangerous,” Wilson says.

TRS’ reputation as a leading service provider has allowed the brand to create a service centre that keeps technicians safe while allowing services to be conducted efficiently and thoroughly.

“Our clean and fully equipped service centre has the tools and resources needed to handle all types of bus or coach air-conditioning units, from comprehensive inspections and minor repairs to complete system overhauls,” Wilson says.

“When you bring your bus or coach to TRS for air-conditioning servicing, you’re choosing a team with more than 40 years of experience in the industry. We pride ourselves on our expertise and our commitment to safety.

“This ensures that any issues with your air-conditioning system are identified and resolved efficiently, reducing the risk of breakdowns, and ensuring the comfort of your passengers.”
