ABC magazine’s publisher Trader Classifieds now has its ground-breaking transport research on iPad
November 22, 2012
ABC magazine’s publisher Trader Classifieds has revealed the size and shape of Australia’s transport industry in a new iPad app.
Developed for B2B marketing professionals in the transport sector, Transport Census 2012 is the most comprehensive report of its type in any medium.
Based on research by acclaimed independent research company, The Seed, the Transport Census investigated the plans, preferences and media habits of almost 1,000 people ranging from drivers and owner-operators to corporate executives.
The Trader Transport Census showed that the three most significant issues for the industry were rising cost of inputs, which 81 percent put first, quality of infrastructure (73 percent) and increasing government regulations (70 percent).
Further to that, almost 80 percent of respondents will make purchasing decisions in the next 12 months – 49 percent for truck and bus parts, 45 percent for vehicle accessories, and 44 percent buying or selling complete vehicles.
When it comes to informing these decisions, a massive 75 percent of respondents listed magazines as a major information source, well ahead of websites at 52 percent and newspapers at 49 percent, with social media still an afterthought for the industry.
Trader Classifieds CEO Keith Falconer says these were just some of the Transport Census insights into how the transport sector shops for goods and services.
“If you’re a marketing professional in the transport industry, you’ll love it – you can inform your marketing and advertising decisions more completely than ever before,” he says.
“Advertising agencies told us they wanted to know everything about the industry – what people buy, what they read, how they make their buying decisions – and that is what we have delivered.”
All significant transport titles are included in the Transport Census which showed ACP Magazine titles – Trader Classifieds’ parent company – make up four of the top five read titles.
Falconer says the comprehensive and easy-to-use iPad app was the perfect research tool for marketing professionals seeking to bring themselves up to date on transport industry trends.
“Whether you have years of experience in the sector, or are a relative newcomer, half a day going through the app will ensure you are on top of all the current facts and figures,” he says.
“Even a one-hour presentation delivers insights that simply have not been available before.”
