Queensland’s TransLink Transit Authority is
increasing the performance data available to commuters, in a bid to improve reporting transparency.
Queensland Transport Minister Scott Emerson says more data on patronage, customer satisfaction, fixed fares, and public transport complaints will now be uploaded
to an open data website.
“This will be the most open and accountable public transport information in Australia available through TransLink and the Newman Government’s open data website,” Emerson says.
Emerson says TransLink will
also provide a weekly performance overview, with information uploaded monthly.
He says the weekly analysis will replace the quarterly TransLink Tracker report.
Emerson has faced heavy criticism recently regarding TransLink’s transparency and patronage figures.
In October, Labor MP Jackie Trad accused the minister of failing on transparency for not releasing the transport services report Translink Tracker.
Before the LNP Government came into power in March, the report had been published on the Translink website four times a year.
But in October TransLink still hadn’t published a quarterly report.
TransLink’s performance transparency was also criticized in a budget estimates report tabled in Queensland Parliament in late October.
The report says patronage figures used consistently by Emerson have been
incorrect.
