Translink announces buses are now running in Pallara

Translink says the new bus services will help locals get around Pallara quicker and easier

Operator Translink says public transport has arrived in Pallara for the first time, with bus route 126 extended into the community from this week onwards.

The area’s first public transport bus route was driven by community expansion and the associated public demand.

The extension of route 126 into Stockland Pallara, Ritchie Road and Heathwood provides locals with public transport connections to shops, schools and rail services.

Pallara residents now have public transport options to get to the Acacia Ridge TAFE campus and Sunnybank Plaza, as well as to CBD connections, or further south to Heathwood for the first time.

The new routing along Mains Road also provides a faster connection with north and south bound express train services at Altandi station, serviced by both the Beenleigh and Gold Coast train lines.

Bus frequency and span of hours has improved as part of the new service extension, resulting in 21 new daily services running.

Route 126 will travel hourly from Sunnybank Plaza, through Acacia Ridge and Willawong and into Pallara before travelling into Heathwood, with an additional trip to the Acacia Ridge TAFE in the AM and from the TAFE in the PM for TAFE staff and students.

The additional morning and afternoon peak trip will assist students to get to and from TAFE, as well as many schools along the route.

The new routing has required the delivery of six upgraded and/or new bus stops within Stockland Estate and on Ritchie Road, Pallara, with delivery of the stops being undertaken by Brisbane City Council.

Benefits of route 126 extension:

  • Extended from Sunnybank Plaza to Pallara (Stockland Estate and Ritchie Road) and Heathwood
  • High level of connections with high frequency bus services to city and wider network at Heathwood and Sunnybank
  • Rail connections at Altandi Station, including express connections (Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines)
  • Buses continue to service Acacia Ridge shops and TAFE
  • Span of hours from 5.15am to 7.55pm (outbound), and hourly off-peak frequency.
