Transit Systems has played its part throughout Sydney WorldPride 2023 by unveiling a new rainbow coloured Pride Bus
Australian multi-modal transport operator Transit Systems last week said yes to Pride for Sydney WorldPride 2023 by unveiling a new rainbow-inspired Pride Bus.
The Pride Bus went into service on February 17, operating from the Leichhardt Depot and travelling through Sydney’s inner west as well as on routes 389 and 440 down Oxford Street.
The bus also travels past key locations for Sydney’s WorldPride event such as Victoria Park to act as a travelling billboard for the event.
Transit Systems CEO Michael McGee says the Pride Bus has been decorated inside by staff to support the operator’s LGBTQIA+ colleagues and community.
“The world-first event with Sydney Mardi Gras and Sydney WorldPride joining forces will be so significant for the Sydney LGBTQIA+ community, which extends to the passengers we service and our own employees,” McGee says.

“We just had to be part of it in creating the Pride Bus – a first for us, with the invaluable support from the organisers of WorldPride 23.
“The entire team at Transit Systems is looking forward to playing a part in the Pride festivities. The atmosphere in Sydney during this time is always electric and we hope our customers jump on our Pride Bus and ride with pride.”
Geremy Roberts, who has been driving Transit Systems buses for five years, led the bus decorating project, including discussing the bus wrap.
“It was such a great day spending time with my colleagues decorating the Pride Bus. Seeing the Transit Systems Pride Bus come to life to promote the Sydney World Pride message means a lot and makes me feel supported,” Roberts says.
“The Pride Bus really captures the positive environment we all feel as a team at Transit Systems, with all the colour and community connection on display.”
Sydney WorldPride 2023 kicked off on February 18 and runs until March 5.
