Transit Systems secures ISO recertifications for fleet excellence

Transit Systems’ ISO recertifications highlight fleet management excellence and sustainability across bus operations.
Transit Systems achieves ISO recertifications, reinforcing fleet excellence, safety, and sustainability across its bus and coach networks.

Transit Systems has reinforced its position as Australia’s largest integrated multi-modal transport operator, following a series of successful ISO audits across its operations. The results underscore the company’s ongoing commitment to reliability, sustainability, and high standards in fleet management.

In South Australia, Torrens Transit achieved recertification for its ISO 55001 Asset Management System, also known as an AMS. The recognition highlights the maturity of its asset management practices and the organisation’s ability to optimise bus fleet lifecycles through structured planning and preventative maintenance.

Meanwhile, Transit Systems NSW successfully completed surveillance audits for ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems), and ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems). Collectively, these certifications reaffirm the operator’s focus on safety, environmental responsibility, and service quality.

Mark Peters, Executive General Manager Business Operations at Transit Systems, says the achievements are a credit to the people behind the business.

“These certifications represent our commitment to deliver safe, reliable and sustainable transport solutions for the communities we serve. These rigorous standards underpin every bus we operate and every decision we make,” Peters says.

“These audits are conducted as part of our regular recertification and surveillance cycles. They involve a thorough review of our systems, processes and operational practices to ensure we are meeting, and in many areas, exceeding the high standards we set for ourselves.

“Auditors again highlighted our proactive lifecycle asset management and focus on preventative maintenance as clear strengths, a credit to our dedicated teams who work tirelessly behind the scenes.”

Looking ahead, Peters says the organisation remains focused on continuous improvement.

“We are committed to evolving our assets, the assets under our management, safety, environmental and quality management systems. This includes ongoing investment in technology, training and sustainable practices to ensure we continue delivering better outcomes for passengers, our team members and the environment.

“These results are only possible because of our professionalism, care and expertise shown by our Transit Systems’ team every day,” Peters says.

For Australia’s bus and coach sector, the recertifications signal the importance of structured systems and strong asset management in meeting both passenger and industry expectations. Transit Systems’ record demonstrates how investment in people, processes, and technology supports operational excellence across diverse networks.
