International operator Transdev marked International Women’s Day last week with the unveiling of its new Gender Equality Action Plan.
The plan aims to encourage female participation and enforces leadership targets while also creating a new program to elevate senior female leaders.
The operator’s inaugural equality action plan outlines how Transdev aims to become an even more inclusive employer, with actions set out to improve the gender balance and female participation rates in coming years.
These targets include increasing its share of female drivers to 20 per cent across Australia and New Zealand, with the rate currently at 10 per cent in Australia and 15 per cent in New Zealand, and increasing the number of top female leaders to 35 per cent by 2025.
Transdev chief financial officer and inclusion ambassador Alexia Gontier says Transdev values the contributions of women in the industry and actively encourages growth in their careers.
“Our plan is to attract, develop and engage female talent right across our businesses,” Gontier says.
“It’s about creating a work environment where women are supported and encouraged to challenge themselves and grow.
“Transdev is enabling women to achieve through our culture, our policies and processes and respect for everything that women bring to their workplace.”
Gontier says the plan includes targets not just for workforce participation, but also for increased communication, mentorship and networking opportunities for women.
Transdev celebrated International Women’s Day this year by holding a celebratory event for the plan’s release at the Transdev John Holland bus depot at Port Botany, Sydney.
Attendees heard about the new plan as well as the expansion of Transdev’s Women on the Move network.
This includes the operator’s Elevate program, which is a leadership program for some of the transport sector’s rising stars.
