Tap and Pay bus ticketing system comes to Adelaide services

Busways has revealed when the new bus charging system will be available on its Adelaide Metro buses

Operator Busways has announced that passengers onboard Adelaide buses will soon be able to tap and pay as they board, using credit or debit cards.

Busways says new smart validators are currently being installed on its buses in the Adelaide Metro Outer South area.

The machines will be able to accept payments via metroCARD, Visa and Mastercard, including Visa and Mastercard-enabled smartphones and watches.

Busways expects the validators to be on all Busways buses by September this year and on all buses before the end of the year, with paper tickets still to be accepted during the transition period.

Busways reminds passengers that if they need to transfer to a different bus or train service or are entitled to a concession fare then Adelaide Metro tap and pay may not be the ideal option.
