Starry night takes home Best Bus December

The December winner of ABC Best Bus comes courtesy of a Goodes Coaches bus captured at the Devil’s Marbles under a night sky

The past 12 months has seen the ABC inboxes packed to the brim with stunning bus photography.

From country roads, to mountain scapes and snow, it seems this competition has taken us to every point in the country.

So as we wrapped up the competition for the year, our eyes were kept peeled for a submission unlike any other. The December winner of ABC’s Best Bus, sponsored by VDI Australia, was just that.

Taken by Hayley Evans, her incredible shot combined two of our favourite things, coaches and the stars. Now while her photo took the crown, she narrowly beat out some other incredible contenders.

Hugh Kleipas’ submission of four school coaches just before sunset was tough to beat, the framing absolutely spot on.

There was also Fletcher Sigley’s well timed shot, with a cheeky koala wanting to be included and Vivian the Volvo at the entry of the driveway of Mansfield Estate Grants Beach.

But none of these finalists could surpass Evans and her winning photo of a Goodes Coaches coach.

“This picture was taken while on a camping safari tour to Central Australia with Goodes Coaches in September this year,” Evans told ABC.

“The photo was at a bush camp we had in the Northern Territory, at the Devil’s Marbles, of a 2008 Denning Phoenix coach and trailer.”

For her win, Evans received a free 12-month subscription to ABC Magazine, while the winning photo is live as ABC’s Facebook page cover photo for all of December.

If you want to be like Evans and have your best photo shown off courtesy of Best Bus, brought to you by VDI Australia, then don’t forget to send through your photos for January and the rest of 2025 via our website or by keeping an eye on our Facebook page for more details.
