Southern Coast Transit has been awarded the WorkSafe Platinum Certificate of Achievement, the highest award given by WorkSafe

Southern Coast Transit has been awarded the WorkSafe Platinum Certificate of Achievement, the highest award given by WorkSafe, for each of the three public transport contract areas in which it operates.
The Veolia subsidiary is the only recipient of the award in 2010, which further emphasises the organisation’s achievement in meeting WorkSafe’s highest standards.
Each certificate is awarded only when the following achievements are met:
- A score of 90 percent in each of the five elements of management commitment; planning; consultation; hazard management; and training
- A significantly lower score for lost time injuries than the sub-industry average.
Terry Scott, Veolia Transport Perth Managing Director, says receiving the three Platinum awards is a reflection of the company’s commitment to the safety and wellbeing of its employees.
“Our employees are the centre of our operations and we are committed to providing them with the safest of working environments. It’s an honour to be recognised for the WorkSafe Platinum Certificate of Achievement in each of our three contract areas and my congratulations extend to each of our team members for this achievement,” he says.
The Platinum WorkSafe awards were presented to Southern Coast Transit by Commissioner Nina Lyhne on April 9 at the company’s head office in O’Connor.
Southern Coast Transit, who operates the Cockburn/Fremantle, Rockingham/Mandurah and Central Area Transit public transport contracts on behalf of Transperth, has received three prestigious Platinum awards previously, in 2007.
Southern Coast Transit is part of Veolia Transport Australasia and provides 20,300 services weekly, transports 22 million passengers each year and employs over 630 staff.
