Smart ticketing has almost made its way across the whole of South East Queensland, with the launch of the system on Kinetic Gold Coast marking over 90 per cent completion of the bus rollout.
Only one more operator across SEQ is left to make the switch, Transport for Brisbane, which is scheduled to be completed shortly.
Customers can now pay for their bus rides using contactless Visa, Mastercard or American Express credit or debit cards, cards stored in the digital wallet of smartphones, smart watches and other wearable devices.
More than 25 million trips on all public transport have been taken using smart ticketing, while more than 400,000 trips have been taken on buses since the first operator launched in August 2024.
Despite no longer needing a go card in the region, if customers are transferring to a remaining bus operator that is not yet participating in the Smart Ticketing trial, they will need to continue to use their go card at this time.
