The South Australian government has committed $6 million towards the delivery of a new Crafers Park and Ride facility.
It comes after it announced last month the addition of almost 600 extra bus services per week for Adelaide Hills residents.
The SA government says the upgrade to the facility will encourage residents in Adelaide Hills to use more buses and reduce private car use.
Key objectives for the project include increasing the Park and Ride’s capacity and amenity facilities, improving safety and security and maintaining access to current bus stops and parking.
Upgrades will include 85 new car parking spaces, two accessible bays and motorcycle parking. New landscaping and trees will also be planted as part of the project.
The new facility will be built to the southeast of the existing Park and Ride and next to Crafers westbound off ramp on the South Eastern Freeway.
The SA government says the construction of the facility has already started, with the project expected to be completed by mid-2024.
