[QLD] QSBA workshop will shed light on school bus operator policy

The Queensland School Bus Alliance will hold a one day "Hot Topics" Workshop in Brisbane on Thursday January 24, 2008.

The Queensland School Bus Alliance will hold a one day “Hot Topics” Workshop in Brisbane on Thursday January 24, 2008.

The day is aimed at not only giving bus operators the opportunity to get on top on current issues, but will give participants the opportunity of access to and discussion with policy makers.

Queensland Transport speakers will cover a variety of subjects and will be available to answer queries and discussion.

For school bus operators, modernisation of the STAS payment system will be covered, including vehicle replacement.

With considerable work having been undertaken by QSBA with Queensland Transport over a number of years, this should give an indication of what the future may hold.

Neil McKenzie will also be updating operators on initiatives with regard to the Code of Conduct and Managing Student Behaviour.

Compliance has been a “hot” issue for Queensland operators in recent times and compliance staff, involved in both public transport audits and machinery inspections will be outlining their requirements of operators.

The current situation with regard to both Operator Accreditation and Driver Authorisation has also been included.

The day has been sponsored by Sci-fleet Hino and an optional dinner is also be available.

“The workshop should be a great opportunity for operators as they begin another year,” says organiser Lorraine Douglas-Smith.

“Although the workshop has been organised for QSBA members, non-members are also welcome.”

Further information on the workshop and registration can be obtained by contacting Lorraine Douglas-Smith (telephone 3376 3140/ fax 3376 1151 or email qsba@bigpond.net.au)
