About 80 school buses will circle the streets of Adelaide’s CBD this afternoon to draw attention to an ongoing dispute between privately contracted operators and the South Australian Government.
The Bus and Coach Association of South Australia is leading a rally to protest against the SA Government’s perceived lack of support for local school bus operators, many losing long-standing contracts through a new procurement process.
Buses will assemble at Port Road at 11.30am this morning, departing at 11.55am for a two-hour circle of the city
during a protest assembly at Parliament House.
The route travels from Port Road to North Terrace, turning right into King William Street, then left into Wakefield Street, left into Gawler Place, left into Flinders Street, right onto King William Street, left onto Currie Street, right onto Morphett Street then veering left down the side of Morphett Street Bridge and right onto North Terrace.
Buses will then proceed up to King William and continue to follow the route until 2pm.
Rally organiser Jim Scott says protestors and speakers will assemble on the steps of Parliament House from 12pm during the bus procession around the streets of Adelaide.
