Cubic contract continues

Cubic Transportation Systems continues to support Sydney drivers with intelligent transport

Cubic Transportation Systems has announced the extension of its contract with Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) for ongoing maintenance and operation of the Sydney Transport Management Centre (TMC) central computer system managing traffic throughout the New South Wales (NSW) road network.

The contract extension includes options to continue until June 2020.

“This extension confirms the foundation on which the TMC will continue building world-leading transportation solutions that benefit the people of NSW,” says Sydney Transport Management Centre executive director Scott White.

CTS Asia-Pacific senior vice president and managing director Tom Walker says this contract extension is a testament to the strong relationship between the two organizations.

“It opens up the opportunity for us to introduce NextTraffic – our next-generation, integrated multi-modal traffic and transport platform – that is part of CTS’s NextCity vision,” he says.

Cubic’s IMS operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week in providing real-time IMS information to a large number of operators on the TfNSW road network in order to efficiently manage and lessen the impact of congestion.

The IMS incorporates features including automatic incident detection and response, variable message and speed-control signing and traffic data collection.

Cubic is also the system integrator and services provider for the Opal smart card ticketing system for public transport in the greater Sydney region.
