Top performers in truck and bus sales and service recognised at Hino National Skills Contest

Hino Australia has tested and recognised its top service, parts and sales staff at the 2015 Hino National Skills Contest in Sydney this month.

The event attracted a total of 22 finalists, representing Hino dealers from all around Australia.

The Hino National Skills Contest is an essential element of the organisations continued success, according to Hino Australia chairman and chief executive Steve Lotter.

“We want our team to be at the leading edge of sales and service, and world-class training and assessment is crucial to the growth of our business,” he says.

The National Service Award was scooped by Asa Pearson of CMI Hino Adelaide and colleague David Cushion took out the Sales Award, while the Parts Award went to Tom Stewart of West Orange Motors.

Runners up for the National Service Award were Brandon Healey of WA Hino and Robert Barber of West Orange Motors.

Ryan Macauley of CMI Hino Adelaide and Mike Hardy of WA Hino were runners up in the parts category.

Andrew Harris of CMI Hino Adelaide and Luke Bennett of FRM Hino were second and third respectively in the sales section.

Parts and service contestants showed off their diagnostic and parts interpretation skills through a range of hypothetical exercises and participated in scenario-based exercises to display their knowledge.

Attendees on the day included Hino Australia chairman and chief executive Steve Lotter, president and chief operational officer Shunichi (Sean) Takahashi and representatives from Hino Japan; including deputy general manager Hiroshige Fukuoka and manager Tsuyoshi Kawabata.

Lotter commended all the participants and winners on the level of expertise shown.

“We appreciate all our contestants who have worked so hard to earn a place in the finals, and we look forward to next year’s event.”
