Move is next step in relationship between Renault Nissan and Daimler that is aimed at reducing development costs and solidifying presence in light duty segments in the country

November 12, 2012

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Company (MFTBC) along with Nissan Pty Ltd have signed a domestic model sharing deal for the Japanese market.

The deal is a further progression of the strategic partnership formed between Renault Nissan and Daimler AG.

“With our growth strategy, ‘FUSO 2015’, we will significantly improve the satisfaction of our customers,” MFTBC President and CEO Dr Albert Kirchmann says of the agreement.

“Our latest achievement is the Fuso Canter Guts to be offered from 2013, which will ’round off’ the bottom of our broad range of light trucks.”

The new Fuso model, which will be available in Japanese dealerships from January, is currently offered by Nissan as the Atlas F24.

In turn, Nissan will have access to the larger capacity but light duty Fuso Canter which will be sold as the NT450 Atlas.

The reciprocal agreement is intended to bolster the Japanese light duty market for both companies while reducing development costs.
