Volvo Bus rolled out the red carpet for its senior European executives recently during a visit to the national Sydney-based operation, timed to showcase the company’s growth in Australia over the past 12 twelve months.

"The Australian Volvo bus team has achieved rapid growth over the past 12 to 18 months," Volvo Bus Corporation President and CEO Håkan Karlsson says.

"After having spent time in Australia it is now clear that Volvo’s B7R product range coupled with a committed team of bus specialists and a dedicated dealer network countrywide are the primary factors yielding great results," he says.

The team, hosted by Volvo Bus Australia General Manager David Mead, also visited the Melbourne and Brisbane branches, and met several private and government operators and body builders.

Discussions included moves towards Euro 6 emissions standards.

"It is always important for our overseas colleagues that support such a large number of markets to truly understand what customers in each area expect and how these expectations can be successfully delivered," Mead says.

"We were thrilled to have the opportunity to host members of the Volvo Bus Executive Committee, who represent a number of business areas including global product development and manufacturing, and introduce them to a number of our customers."

Karlsson left Australia impressed, saying the makeup of skills and scope of Volvo Bus’s technical and after-sales teams were impressive.
