Police are appealing for information after a bus driver was assaulted in Sydney’s south west yesterday (Tuesday, December 15).
About 4.45pm, a 46-year-old man was driving a local bus when he allowed six males to get on the bus in Parramatta.
A dispute over the fares has arisen when four of the males have allegedly attempted to use the other two males’ concession passes.
The fares were eventually paid and the bus began travelling towards Bankstown.
The driver has told police that during the journey the males began yelling and swearing.
Two of the group began to alight from the bus at Villawood when a further dispute over fares arose.
The monies were eventually paid and the bus continued towards Bankstown.
While the group was leaving the bus, the driver told police one of them hit him in the cheek.
One of the males has been described to police as being of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance, 16-18 old, 175-180 tall, with short black hair and wearing a plain white singlet and shorts.
Bankstown Police are continuing their inquiries into the assault and are appealing to anyone who might know the identity of those involved to contact detectives.
