Passengers can now Tap and Go on Bus Queensland buses

Bus Queensland is the seventh bus operator in South East Queensland to have Smart Ticketing activated

Bus Queensland is now offering passengers new ways to pay for their transport, with the second stage of the Smart Ticketing rollout on South East Queensland buses now underway.

Passengers travelling on a Bus Queensland service can now ‘Tap and Go’, paying for transport using contactless Visa, Mastercard or American Express debit or credit cards, including cards in the digital wallet of smart devices.

The new ticketing system has been incredibly successful with other operators, with more than 140,000 trips using Smart Ticketing recorded on buses alone since first launching on Caboolture Bus Lines in August 2024.

Bus Queensland is the seventh bus operator in South East Queensland to have Smart Ticketing activated, following the successful launch on Kangaroo Bus Lines who were the first operator in stage two.

A go card will no longer be needed for passengers n the Ipswich region and parts of Logan, who are transferring between a SEQ train and Bus Queensland service. However they will still need to continue tapping on at the start of their journey and tapping off at the end of each trip.

If you are transferring to another bus operator that is not yet participating in the Smart Ticketing trial, please continue to use your go card at this time.
