A Western Australian based bus and charter operator has recently come to the rescue for school students, providing revamped bus services following the closure of the Fremantle Traffic Bridge.
The bridge was closed on February 1 as works begin to build a replacement bridge by early next year.
While it presented a major challenge for school travel in the region, Australian Transit Group worked with schools to ensure students had “little to no disruption” in continuing to get to and from school.
“In the lead‑up to the closure, our operations and planning teams worked closely with Main Roads WA, the Department of Education, local schools and community stakeholders to map every contingency,” Australian Transit Group says.

“From adjusting school bus timetables and testing alternate routes to training drivers and communicating with families, every detail was considered to keep services running smoothly.
“The result? Minimal impact on travel times and uninterrupted service for hundreds of students who rely on school buses every day. This effort demonstrates the power of collaboration between transport providers, government agencies and local communities to solve complex logistical challenges together.”
The operator says it’ll continue monitoring and adapting to any changes during the Fremantle Traffic Bridge project’s progress to ensure students receive safe, reliable and efficient services.
