NSW government to improve Griffith bus network

Transport for NSW has confirmed a raft of service changes to the current bus network in Griffith

The NSW government has announced that it has made changes to the current bus service network in Griffith as it looks to improve the quality of trips for passengers.

As part of the NSW government’s 16 regional cities services improvement program that aims to deliver better public transport for the state’s regions, Griffith bus users can expect a new and improved network, with around 30 per cent more services expected to land from September 18 onwards.

“There will be 77 extra services per week, a simpler and more regular timetable, better connections to hospitals in Griffith, new Sunday and public holiday services and new services for Griffith’s growing suburbs,” Transport for NSW acting regional director south Brendon James says.

“TfNSW has worked with Griffith City Council and the community to ask people what they want. The result is a better and smarter bus network for all of Griffith that will better meet people’s needs to get to medical appointments, work, shops and social events.”

James says these improvements will make a real difference to the Griffith community, with services designed to meet population demand, better connections to health services and greater coverage on weekends.

The new changes to the Griffith bus network will include a new route linking South Griffith and Pioneer directly with the Griffith Hospital precinct, while more bus services will run to St Vincent’s Private Community Hospital.

Bus services will be expanded to new residential developments in Collina and South Griffith, while new connections will be made to Griffith Regional Sports Centre and Griffith Exies Sports Club.

Once the new network goes live on September 18, TfNSW says no school bus services will be impacted by the changes, with extra middle-of-day weekday services also being introduced alongside a wave of school holiday services.

TfNSW has also announced a Travel Experience Day next week to allow community members to familiarise themselves with public transport, with TfNSW and Griffith Buslines staff to be at Memorial Park on Friday September 1 between 11AM and 2PM for the day.
