Nexport becomes AFR Sustainability Leader for electric bus commitment

Nexport has been recognised as the winner for AFR’s 2023 Sustainability Leader award in the logistics and transport sector

In the Australian Financial Review’s (AFR) Sustainability Leaders announcement last week, both Transit Systems and Nexport have been recognised for their commitments to sustainability.

Last week, Transit Systems was recognised for its electric bus depot conversion in Leichhardt, while Nexport has also been named the AFR Sustainability Leader for logistics and transportation for 2023.

The AFR says Nexport has introduced nearly 100 zero-emissions buses to Australia, with 400 expected in the coming years.

A key part of Nexport’s recognition was its decision to open GoZero to become a complete partner for operators looking to make the electric bus transition.

Nexport won its category ahead of Australia Post, Kelsian Group/ Transit Systems, Qantas and Team Global Express.

Nexport commercial and partnerships director Sid Rallapalli told AFR that Nexport aspires to electrify all 8000 uses in NSW while providing a complete solution for customers wanting to make the electric change.

“Electric vehicles are cheaper given the price of diesel. There’s also a comfort factor because there’s less vibrations and noise when travelling on an electric bus,” Rallapalli told AFR.

“The more competition out there, the more opportunities to grow with the broader market.”
