New Yutong electric models front and centre at Expo

Yutong says it will have a suite of new vehicles ready to be shown at the Bus & Coach Expo this week

Yutong has spent 2022 launching new products, meaning it has plenty to show at this year’s Bus & Coach Expo. In October, its latest D7 minibus will be showcased and Yutong’s new electric bus will be launched.

After undergoing a test drive across the countryside with ABC in June, Yutong Australia general manager Lou Riccardi says the new minibus model will be proudly displayed at Yutong’s Expo booth.

“We’re excited to be showing off our new D7 minibus,” Riccardi told ABC. “We’ll have our D7 model there with a wheelchair lift on it too.”

But the new Yutong minibus model won’t be the main attraction for Yutong at the Expo. Instead, Vehicle Dealers International (VDI), the Chinese manufacturer’s Australian distributor, will display its new electric bus aimed at school and mining operations.

Riccardi says it will be the mainstay of Yutong’s Expo display and will be complemented by a fleet of other models.

“Our latest electric bus will be front and centre,” Riccardi says. “Along with our new D7, we’ll also show our D9 diesel vehicle.”

In its 10th year operating in Australia, Yutong will also soon introduce its new range of Euro 6 powered vehicles to the country.

Riccardi says all of this electric innovation is what Yutong wants to show to the industry to prove it is progressing in the zero-emission vehicles area as a market leader.

“We want to showcase the advantages that Yutong have made in the electric space,” Riccardi says. “We want to show what we’ve done in terms of our vehicle design and what it’s doing in the electric market globally.”
