New section of South East Busway to open next week

Certain bus timetables will be affected as more routes ditch the traffic and use the extended busway

A new section of the South East Busway is set to open on Monday May 12, taking passengers to and from Springwood and stopping at the new Rochedale station.

Routes 551, 555, N555, 561, 573, 575, 576, 577 and P581 will be among those taking the new stretch, offering a smoother, more convenient and reliable ride for passengers.

At Rochedale station, buses will run every five minutes during peak periods or 15 minutes all other times, to and from Brisbane.

Timetables will change on routes 566, P569 and 571 as buses will also skip the traffic and use the extended busway. There’ll also be changes to 553 and 572 to improve connections at Loganholme.

Once the busway extension opens, a few nearby stops will close:

  • Underwood Road, near School Road (Stop ID 318629)
  • Underwood Road, near School Road (Stop ID 322007)
  • Rochedale Road, at Kumbari Street (Stop ID 310941).

The new Rochedale station includes a new park ‘n’ ride with parking up to 485 parking spaces, including nine accessible spaces. There’s also a kiss ‘n’ ride bay for kerbside drop-off and pick-ups, making it easier to connect to buses.

The station is connected to the new cycleway and shared pathways, which connect to the Veloway V1, with secure undercover storage for up to 30 bikes.

The modern station is fully accessible with tactile flooring, station announcements, audio loops, and digital displays. Quality lighting, CCTV security, and weather protection also contribute to a safe and comfortable journey.
