Munich company orders trio of electric bus brands

The German operator has gone with three different bus brands as part of a bumper new electric bus order

Munich transport operator MVG, a subsidiary of Stadtwerke Munchen, has lodged a major order of 71 electric buses that come from three different global brands.

As part of the electric bus order, Ebusco will deliver 28 new 3.0 articulated model buses, Mercedes-Benz will put forward 30 eCitaro G buses while 13 MAN Lion’s City 12E models finish off the deal.

The eCitaro G has been part of the MVG fleet already, while a single MAN Lion’s City E model is already running for the German operator.

As part of the delivery, which was reported in Urban Transport Magazine, MVG is expecting to get 300km and 250km respectively out of the various models.

The models are expected to be delivered from next year onwards, with MVG spending 54 million Euros on the order.

“With these new vehicles now on order, we will have 132 electric buses in operation,” MVG’s Ingo Wortmann says.

“They will bring us a big step closer to our goal of running only electrically powered buses in 2035.”
