An additional eight women from will take part in a fully sponsored program to develop industry women, as the Queensland Bus Industry Council is providing funding for the placements.
The program, Emberin Ignite – Transport, Logistics and Supply Chain, will help participants develop their leadership skills and enhance their performance.
Through funding from Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, the Bus Industry Confederation collaborated Emberin in the development of the new program for women in the transport, logistics and supply chain industry.
Participants in the program will develop their skills and raise their visibility within their organisation and industry.
Queensland Bus Industry Council Executive Director David Tape says the association will provide funding for an additional eight women to undertake the course.
He says the initiative was originally started by QBIC by their Long Distance, Tour and Charter Committee.
QBIC approached Louise Perram-Fisk, of Emberin, and requested her involvement to identify and develop a program.
From there, Perram-Fisk asked QBIC if she could involve national body BIC to give the program greater exposure.
“BIC were fantastic from day one of their involvement, supportive and able to secure funding for 20 ladies of our Industry to do the program, excellent outcome and involvement from the BIC,” says Tape.
“QBIC saw this as an opportunity to support ladies within our Industry in Queensland, we saw it as an opportunity to give back to our members and promote the excellent contribution that they make.”
Tape says they will be encouraging more women to attend the program.
“We are hopeful that this is not a one-off program and experience for our ladies.”
The course is set to start in February 2014.
