Students in the Wallan Secondary School zone will soon have to stress less about making the bus on time, with school bus services set to increase from eight to eleven return trips once Term 3 begins on Monday, July 15.
Active transport minister Gabrielle Williams announced yesterday that expanded coverage will be provided to Mandalay Estate in Beveridge, with students in this estate now having access to three return services.
Four services will also extend from the secondary college through to Wallan Primary School in the afternoon and Wallara Waters will receive three services to cover their growing student numbers, with Springridge and Aurina Drive also getting an additional service.
“Through Victoria’s Bus Plan we’re delivering more services, improved routes and cleaner fleets so more Victorians can benefit from a better bus network,” Williams says.
Since launching in June 2021, Victoria’s Bus Plan has improved bus services in more than half of the state’s 79 local government areas, adding more than 4,600 extra services each week across metro and regional Victoria.
This includes improvements to 25 school bus networks as part of a $25 million investment in the 2022/23 Federal Budget to introduce, modify and extend school bus services across the state with an initial focus on growth areas.
“We’re providing a better school bus network for students and parents in the Wallan and Beveridge area with more dedicated school bus services targeted where they are needed most,” member for Kalkallo Ros Spence says.
