Lucky Victorian bus drivers win the lotto

Twenty-one bus drivers from the Healesville area in Victoria, and two of their wives, won more than $593,400 in Tattslotto

Twenty-one bus drivers from the Healesville area in Victoria, and two of their wives, won more than $593,400 in Tattslotto last Saturday.

Most of the drivers, who work for McKenzie’s Tourist Services, and both wives have been playing Tattslotto together with the same nine numbers for 15 years and they plan to keep playing.

The syndicate organiser said that to select the numbers the driver who started the syndicate took one each from the first nine workmates he met.

“Over the years we have won one Fourth Division prize about five or six Fifth Division prizes and after this win we are definitely going to keep playing,” he says.

He says that $25,800 each might not seem like a lot of money, but everybody was very happy with it and it seemed to have come along just at the right time for a few of them – “especially with interest rates jumping up”.

“One of them has to buy a new car as his has died, one of the others has an investment property which he was going to have to sell, another has a legal problem and the wife one of driver is quite ill,” he says.

This winning entry was submitted at Sanctuary Lotto in Healesville.
