Kinetic expands operations in Western Australia

Local operator Kinetic has expanded services in WA as it brings in premium quality coaches

Australasian-based bus operator Kinetic has expanded its services in Western Australia with the arrival of a brand new fleet of premium quality coaches to be stationed at the company’s new High Wycombe bus depot.

A leader in the transition of bus networks to zero emissions, Kinetic has introduced battery electric buses (BEBs) in Melbourne, Hobart, and throughout Queensland and New Zealand and plans to do the same in WA’s transport sector.

Targeting school route and charter services, general charter and event services, Kinetic is already meeting demand for premium buses and high quality service, including Perth’s growing school market.

Kinetic is further growing its WA business through workforce transportation, aviation and public transportation services.

The WA depot is strategically located in High Wycombe, the focal point of the new $1.9 billion Forrestfield-Airport link, with new, higher frequency bus routes connecting commuters to three new train stations, including the airport.

With increasing density and established industrial area, the High Wycombe location provides convenient access to Perth’s major road networks facilitating services for the metropolitan and greater metropolitan fringe regions.

Kinetic has extensive experience operating mining and resources bus services in WA’s resources sector through Kinetic Resources, formerly known as Greyhound Resources.

Kinetic Resources offers fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) and permanent workforce transfers and shuttles, camp-to-site transfers, and airport services in both general and shut down and maintenance operations.

Operating for more than 45 years and headquartered in Melbourne, Kinetic manages a network carrying 100 million passengers on its current fleet of 5,000 buses across 92 depots.

Kinetic says it is a trusted transport partner and one of Australasia’s largest providers of government-contracted urban and school bus services, including in Melbourne, across Queensland and Tasmania and all of New Zealand’s major cities.

Internationally, Kinetic also owns UK-based The Go-Ahead Group under a joint venture arrangement with Spain’s Globalvia Inversiones S.A.U, which operates a further 6,000 buses in the UK, Europe and Singapore. Go-Ahead also operates the largest rail network in the UK

Across Australia and New Zealand, Kinetic operates almost 100 BEBs and that number will grow to 300 in 2023.

Earlier this year Kinetic opened Australia’s first all-electric bus depot powered by 100 per cent renewable energy in Queensland. Kinetic’s e-bus network is now growing across nine electric bus depots as it targets a 100 per cent electric bus fleet by 2035.

Kinetic is also committing significant efforts to exploring zero emission bus technology to operate in Australia’s remote terrain, like Western Australia’s resources-rich Pilbara.

Heading up Kinetic’s WA-based team is Executive General Manager WA Sarah Ismail, a Perth and Pilbara local who brings significant transport, resources and finance sector experience to the Kinetic team.

Prior to joining Kinetic, Ismail was an integral part of BHP’s Mass Transportation team, managing the busing logistics contracts in WA’s Pilbara. In 2015, she joined Greyhound Resources (prior to its acquisition by Kinetic) as Site Operations Manager on the $34 billion Wheatstone Project at Onslow, where she was in charge of bus services for more than five years. She was then appointed Greyhound’s WA Regional Manager for Mining and Resources.

“Kinetic offers premium quality buses and the highest level of safety and customer service. We are excited to further grow the business here in Western Australia across key sectors including government, schools, airports, and resources,” Ismail says.

“Kinetic brings fresh energy, pride and passion to what it does, demonstrated by the number of government and independent schools, private tour groups and corporate clients we’ve had the pleasure of moving, and who are returning to Kinetic for regular services.

“We’re excited to see even more Kinetic buses on the road as we grow the business and deliver safer, cleaner and greener bus services that are reliable and that communities and our clients can be proud of. That’s what we’re here to do – to improve the livelihoods of the communities in which we live and work.”
