Kinetic has celebrated the return of its SkyBus service on the Peninsula as more and more passengers return to the bus that goes to and from Melbourne Airport
Australasian bus and coach operator Kinetic says passenger numbers are soaring once again as the SkyBus service lands back in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs.
Travel-bound residents in Melbourne’s south-east have welcomed the return of the SkyBus Peninsula Express airport shuttle, with more than 50,000 people jumping on board the service since it resumed six months ago.
State member for Frankston Paul Edbrooke says the service is important to provide regular, reliable and affordable travel between the city’s bayside suburbs and Melbourne Airport.
“The SkyBus Peninsula service is such an important service for the people in this region because it’s really quick way of getting into the city and into international or domestic flights around Australia,” Edbrooke says.
Kinetic SkyBus general manager Jason Balkin says the company has enjoyed fantastic support for the return of SkyBus in the area from the local community.
“It was a really tough decision to suspend the service during the pandemic but our customers are really vocal and supportive and wanted to see it brought back,” Balkin says.
“So we dug deep and happily brought it back in December last year. You can count on our reliable service, it’s really the best way to get to Melbourne Airport.
“As we continue our post-covid recovery, we’re exploring more opportunities of SkyBus services in Melbourne.”
