Bus operator Kinetic has announced construction is underway on a new state-of-the-art depot in Noosaville, set to improve public transport reliability and reduce emissions across the Sunshine Coast.
Located on Production Street, the purpose-built facility will house 28 buses and accommodate over 80 staff, with operations expected to begin by the end of 2025.

The new depot is designed to reduce “dead running”, when buses travel without passengers, by more than 400,000 kilometres per year. This will not only improve service punctuality, particularly in Noosa’s high-traffic areas like Hastings Street, but also significantly cut the environmental impact of bus operations.
Kinetic estimates the reduction in unnecessary travel will save over 176,000 litres of diesel fuel annually and lower CO₂ emissions by around 502 tonnes each year.
“This latest investment demonstrates our commitment to improving public transport reliability and efficiency for Sunshine Coast commuters,” Kinetic executive general manager Martin Hall says.
“The Noosa depot represents a significant milestone in our ongoing partnership with Translink to enhance the region’s transport infrastructure.”
Its central location will enable Kinetic to respond more quickly to service disruptions, offering greater reliability for northern Sunshine Coast passengers.
The project also brings benefits for Kinetic staff. With many team members living in or near Noosa, the new depot will help reduce commuting distances, supporting better work-life balance and further lowering emissions.
