LONG-TIME readers and brand fans of ABC magazine - which has been published for more than 30 years now - will be relieved to know the fabled archived copy of the very first issue has been found.

ABC MAGAZINE ISSUE NO.1 FOUND!
Finding ABC magazine Issue No. 1 is welcome news for current staff members, who have been on an ardent search for it since the title celebrated 30 years of being published in 2018.

Inconsequential to most others for sure, but for bus lovers and ABC magazine die-hards the news is refreshing relief that, after years of different owners and office moves, the legendary magazine archives that were buried away somewhere in one of the interstate offices is now in hand.

The discovery is welcome news for current staff members, who have been on an ardent search for it since the title celebrated 30 years of being published in 2018.

"Praise be! We collectively looked everywhere for these, but just so glad for the mag's sake that the archive turned up at this time," ABC magazine editor Fabian Cotter told www.busnews.com.au

"Staffers at the time recalled they were stored safely away 'somewhere', which turned out they were so 'safe' that no-one could actually find them," he chuckled.

"We've had some staff changes in our Trader titles throughout the years, so it was a bit hard to piece together from memory where, and in which office, these archived folders had been kept. It was a bit of a downer when we couldn't find them at the time of celebrating our 30th birthday three years ago."

"With our Brisbane office relocating from Fortitude Valley to Ipswich soon as part of new owner Prime Creative Media's facilities, our colleagues working on ABC's sister truck titles have had to clear out years and years of their magazine-related stuff in preparation for the move soon.

"Fortunately, in doing so, Eureka! They struck ABC-magazine gold and are now able to ‘safe-keep’ our heritage so it makes the move as well.

"Well done, chaps - and much thanks," he said.

"We will just have to keep them 'a little bit less safe' this time around," he concluded.
