VOLVOS DOWNS LEAVES BUS INDUSTRY; LANDS NEW TRUCK ROLE

FOLLOWING two years as Volvo Bus Australia’s general manager, Lauren Downs is to leave this position as a result of a new truck appointment within the Volvo Group - effective 1 May, 2020 - the company has announced.

Downs is to assume the position of vice president – UD Trucks sales at this time, Volvo Bus confirms.

David Mead, vice president Volvo Buses Asia Pacific Region – already well known to the Australian bus industry having previously run the market and is based in Sydney – is to become the acting general manager for Volvo Bus from that date and will be so until such time as a successor is appointed. The recruitment process for this role will commence immediately, the company says.

“The ability for the Volvo Bus Australia team to continue to deliver and perform as a market leader during times of change is a true testament to the broad ranging knowledge, experience and maturity that extends across the entire Volvo Bus Australia team,” Mead said.

“We are proud to have the largest, most experienced, bus-specific team in the country,” he added.
