RE-BRANDED SKYBUS entity Kinetic has bolstered its Queensland footprint via acquiring Cairns-based bus operator Love's Bus Service QLD (LBSQ), the company announced recently.

KINETIC ACQUIRES SECOND CAIRNS COMPANY: LOVE'S BUS SERVICE
The purchase of Loves Bus Service means Kinetic now owns two Cairns-based bus companies: Loves and Sunbus.

Love's has an impressive 18-year track record in the Cairns region, holding key government school bus service contracts and operating regular private charter services with its fleet of 26 buses, Kinetic explains.

The transaction includes the existing Portsmouth depot premises owned by LBSQ, it confirms.

The purchase of Love's Bus Service means Kinetic now owns two Cairns-based bus companies, joining fellow operator Sunbus under Kinetic’s ownership after it was also acquired earlier this year.

Sunbus operates urban route bus services across Cairns, as well as in Townsville, Magnetic Island, Rockhampton and the Sunshine Coast.

LSBQ joins a growing stable of other brands operated by Kinetic across Australia and NZ, including airport transit business Skybus; Gold Coast urban bus company Surfside Buslines; and Sydney’s largest bus and coach charter company Telford’s.

ONGOING COMMITMENT

Kinetic Co-CEO Adam Begg says Loves was an exciting addition to the group and a great outcome for Cairns passengers.

"We continue to look for growth opportunities to bring our customer-first, world-class standards to all of our services, whether it is airport transit, commuter routes, school services, or special charter services," Begg said.

"Adding Love's to our group indicates our ongoing commitment to the Cairns region and we look forward to building upon the fantastic business the Love family and their passionate team have created."

LBSQ managing director Dan Love says he was proud of what he and his wife, Julie, had achieved with the company over the past two decades.

"We have always had a strong commitment to delivering high-quality bus services to the community and the people within the business have made this possible," Love said.

"Julie and I moved to Cairns for seven years to get this company going, inheriting a 29-year-old fleet of buses and, over time, upgrading them with replacement buses from across Australia.

"We eventually got to drive 25 new buses up from Brisbane thanks to government assistance."

It is expected the transaction will complete this month.
