TRANSDEV CONFIRMS PERTH BUS CONTRACT LOSS

AN OFFICIAL statement from Transdev Australasia confirms that it will no longer operate Perth’s Joondalup bus services from 2020, it can now be revealed.

According to a Transdev spokesperson, Transdev [Perth] is to hand over operation of Transperth’s Joondalup bus services to a new operator in 2020. The Public Transport Authority (PTA) in Western Australia has informed Transdev that it has not been chosen as the preferred tenderer to operate bus services in the Joondalup contract area beyond January 2020, Transdev states.

The confirmation comes after ABC magazine (busnews.com.au) reported that Transit System’s Swan Transit had won the contract from 2020. Transit Systems itself was recently acquired by the Sealink Travel Group.

Transdev (formerly Veolia Transport) has operated bus services in Joondalup since 2011. In that time the company says it has, “…consistently delivered excellent bus services for the community, achieving over 90 per cent customer satisfaction, less than five complaints per 100,000 ‘boardings’, and network best performance in presentation scores.”

REMAINING CONTRACTS

The spokesperson confirms that Transdev continues to deliver bus services in WA under the remaining four contract areas: Perth CAT, Rockingham/Mandurah, and Fremantle.

“We will work closely with the PTA and stakeholders to assist with a smooth transition of the Joondalup operation in January 2020,” the Transdev spokesperson explained.
