IRIZAR EUROPE ANNOUNCES NEW BUS AND TRUCK BOSS

IRIZAR GROUP’S new chief executive officer is Rafael Sterling, as of 1 September, 2019 - replacing retiring José Manuel Orcasitas after 10 years in the role, who dedicated 26 years in total to the “Irizar project”, the company has announced.

Prior to his appointment, New CEO Sterling was the International Business director of the Irizar Group.

Irizar has undergone a profound transformation in recent years, becoming an industrially and geographically diversified business group that operates in six business areas, including passenger transport, electro-mobility, electronics, electric motors and generators, connectivity and energy, it states.

The company comprises seven brands - Irizar, Irizar e-mobility, Alconza, Datik, Hispacold, Masats and Jema – which have operations in 13 production plants (Spain, Morocco, Brazil, Mexico and South Africa) in addition to its own R&D centre.

The Irizar Group is made up of 3,350 people totally committed to and identified with the future strategy, it says.

As it celebrates 130 years in business, Irizar says it has an aggregate turnover of 750 million euros (2018), is financially strong, geographically and industrially diversified, is continuously growing, and is firmly committed to the brand, technology and sustainability.

ABOUT STERLING

New CEO Sterling was born 22 March, 1975, and is married with three children. He holds a Master of Science in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of the Basque Country, and an executive MBA from Deusto Business School. Prior to his appointment, Sterling was the International Business director of the Irizar Group.
