FLXIBLE CLIPPER CLUB EASTER RALLY, 2019

CLIPPER CAPERS were in full swing at the Flxible Clipper Club of Australia annual Easter rally, 2019, at Crows Nest in Queensland late April, making it the first time in 35 years the rally was held in the Sunshine State, organisers report.

Saturday saw these heritage buses on display to the public, who got the chance to look, see and touch history and talk to the owners who have invested their lives in restoring these majestic vehicles.

The Flxible Clippers were built by Ansett Transport Industries at its Ansair division in Essendon, Melbourne, during the ‘50s under licence to the Flxible Company of Ohio, US, and are recognised – with their sleek design, reliability and emphasis on passenger comfort – as class leaders in the long-distance coach transportation arena.

LOVING RESTORATION

Ansett Pioneer operated the Clippers on both Express and tour operations and was a leading road passenger company throughout Australia.  A number of club members have subsequently restored their coaches in the iconic blue and white Pioneer livery.

The members of the Clipper Club and their friends, approximately 80 people in total, enjoyed a weekend of fellowship, barefoot bowls, club dinner on site and rock and roll dancing.

The club says the Crows Nest Caravan Park made an excellent venue and the owner, Gerald, did a fantastic job in making the weekend enjoyable for all.
