WEST PERTH BUS DEPOT PROJECT ON TRACK

A NEW WEST PERTH bus depot with facilities for up to 55 buses is due for completion mid-2019 and will replace the outgoing North Fremantle facility, the PTA has confirmed.

In its latest issued project update, the PTA outlines that in August 2018 it awarded a contract for the design and construction of the new bus depot at Brockway Road, Mount Claremont, to Pindan Constructions Pty Ltd.

Since then, the PTA and Pindan Constructions Pty Ltd have worked closely to build what will be a great depot, it states.

The depot will, “…ensure the efficient and effective long-term business continuity of the PTA’s Transperth bus services in the Claremont bus service contract area,” it explained.

The depot, built on a 1.2ha site, is taking shape with the office, fuel facility and washbay structures complete. The workshop’s cladding is underway and waterproofing and backfilling of the maintenance pits is also complete.wa bus stop new.JPG

BIGGER AND BETTER

The new Mount Claremont bus depot shall replace the outgoing North Fremantle facility and be utilised for storing and maintaining buses, it states.

It has been designed to accommodate a four-bay workshop, administration building, bus refuelling facilities, bus wash facilities and parking areas for up to 55 buses and 65 cars.

When operational the depot will be open between 5.00am and 12.30am; however, bus movements will mainly occur between 6.00-8.00am and 6.00-8.00pm.

In terms of project timing, there was the tender release in May, 2018, with the tender awarded in August. Construction also began that month with completion due mid-2019.
