Tour and Charter Committee (L-R): Chris Matheson, Ray Gannaway, Ben Doolan, Joe Giuppa, Adam Barnard, Greg Balla, David Haoust and Wally Gargano.

Barnard sold his business to his bus business colleagues James Mulholland and Luke Crispin.

Deputy chairman Joe Giuppa, director of Westwide, is now the new chairman and Ben Doolan, managing director of Australian Transit Group, was elected as deputy.

Barnard has been involved in the bus Industry for nearly 18 years and he served as chairman of the Tour and Charter Committee for four years.  During his time as chairman, the Tour and Charter Division flourished substantially, achieving and resolving a number of issues including:

* Engaging with high level discussions in regards to on-demand transport reform in WA.  He assisted in getting state government exemption for tour companies from paying a 10 per cent levy on trips to help pay for the buyback of taxi plates. Subsequent to that, charter vehicles with a seating capacity greater than 12 also being exempted;

* Becoming a member of an advisory committee appointed by the Department of Transport in the preparation of a new Perth Greater CBD Transport Plan 2020 – 2024;

* Engaging with the City of Fremantle negotiating additional coach parking bays;

* Meeting and negotiating with the new Optus Stadium in relation to layover parking at the stadium for AFL events and pick-up and drop-off points at the stadium for other events.

Barnard will now take some time out, but will remain as a consultant assisting the bus industry where possible, BusWA Tour and Charter confirms.
