ICONIC US BUS GIANT TARGETS 2019 ELECTRIC SCHOOL-RUN DEBUT; NEW COMMS HEAD ANNOUNCED

SERIES PRODUCTION STARTING IN 2019 of the all-electric ‘Saf-T-Liner C2 Electric Bus’ - known in short as ‘Jouley’ – will see [each] drive up to 81 kids all over America to school, “safely, quietly and emission-free”, states North American Daimler subsidiary Thomas Built Buses.

Andrea Corso has been appointed as head of Communications at Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA), which includes iconic Thomas Built Buses

Thomas Built Buses was founded in 1916 and is renowned for its ubiquitous yellow school buses in films, television and US popular culture in general. With a market share of 38.7 per cent, Thomas Built Buses is the leading manufacturer of school buses in North America, says Daimler.

Jouley’s 160kWh battery provides a range of up to 160km; additional battery packs are optional and offer a higher range, it’s claimed. During the development of the electric school bus, Thomas Built Buses was able to draw upon Daimler’s electric technology resources, it states.

NEW COMMUNICATIONS ROLE

Thomas Built Buses has also recently announced that Andrea Corso has been appointed as head of Communications at Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA), effective August 20, 2018.

Her responsibilities include DTNA's internal and external corporate communications, as well as product communications for Thomas Built Buses, and trucking’s Freightliner, Western Star and Detroit Diesel, as well as other brands in the US and Mexico.

Corso succeeds Katja Bott, who will take over as head of Global Communications at Mercedes-Benz Cars in Stuttgart, effective October 1.

Corso has more than 20 years’ communications experience with renowned consumer brands such as Nike, Levi's and Adidas. Her responsibilities included the development of internal and external communications strategies, brand positioning and executive communications.

Andrea will help us expanding our industry leading communications across the board," said Florian Martens, head of Global Communications Commercial Vehicles at Daimler AG.
