IN EXCESS OF 200 delegates are expected to attend the ‘Navigating the Future’ 2018 BusNSW Conference at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley, 19 – 20 April, to engage with industry experts discussing the need for operators, suppliers and government to steer the public transport framework, and to adapt to a changing environment, organisers say.

The Hon. Andrew Constance, Minister for Transport and Infrastructure will be delivering an address to delegates.

The Conference includes a half-day workshop for BusNSW members on Thursday 19th, as well as a full-day conference on Friday 20th.

Executive Director of BusNSW, Matt Threlkeld said: "We live in a rapidly changing world and the way we plan and deliver bus and coach services is being transformed as never before."

"The effect of new technology, the internet and social media, means that people’s mobility expectations are changing.

"From mass transit to personalised transport, from fixed-route services to on-demand services, from diesel buses to electric buses, from driver-controlled buses to autonomous vehicles – the transport landscape is rapidly changing.

"The Conference will give delegates an insight into new public transport initiatives and pilots being used to determine what works and what doesn’t," he explained.

On the Friday, the programme will feature a NSW Government address from The Hon. Andrew Constance, Minister for Transport and Infrastructure.

Conference topics will include:

* RMS compliance and regulatory issues for the bus and coach industry,

* New NSW passenger transport regulations – what’s changing for operators?

* Point-to-point transport update,

* On-demand transport – what’s working and what’s not?

* Autonomous, connected and electric vehicles – where are we at?

* NSW and national industry reports.

There are limited spaces for the Conference and accommodation. For full programmes and more information visit www.busnsw.com.au, or contact BusNSW on +61 2 8838 9500. Delegates are encouraged to register for the conference before 23 March to take advantage of ‘early bird’ discounts.
