Kangaroo scoops uni tender

Kangaroo Bus Lines has won a tender to provide bus services to the University of the Sunshine Coast

The commencement of this new partnership will see daily services double.

From the beginning of the new semester in February, timetable changes are being implemented to enhance connectivity across the Moreton Bay region and will incorporate new stops at Narangba, Burpengary, Morayfield and Petrie.

The Express Shuttle Service operates from Monday to Friday and provides two morning services and two afternoon services.

Kangaroo coaches will provide disability access on each express shuttle service to support a diverse student population, ensuring all staff and students with disabilities are able to fully participate in the University community.

These modern coaches will also feature free Wi-Fi and have the capacity stow bicycles providing students a sustainable transport option whilst on campus and around the local area.

The expansion of this vital express shuttle bus will support many students who need to travel between the Sippy Downs campus and the region surrounding the proposed new Petrie campus.

The Moreton Bay campus will commence construction in 2017 and is due for completion in 2020.

The development of the new campus will support a full-service university, equal to that of Sippy Downs, and will welcome 10,000 plus students within the first ten years of opening.

The new university site is located approximately 30km from Brisbane CBD and 60km to the university’s Sippy Downs campus.

At present, public transported is limited on the Sunshine Coast and proposed plans for continued development and refurbishment are yet to be fully implemented across the community.

Many Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay students will rely on this updated public transport system which will include Kangaroo Bus Lines’ university shuttle bus connections.
