Weekend service boost for Vic

Timetables for 23 Ventura bus routes across Melbourne will be adjusted to provide more weekend services from early next month onward

Public Transport Victoria (PTV) acting executive director of performance and contract management Warwick Horsley says the new timetables will improve reliability for passengers.

“These changes will provide passengers with more weekend services in addition to improved reliability and better connections with metropolitan train services,” he says.

“We’ve designed these timetables to more accurately reflect changes to traffic patterns and the demand for more services on weekends.”

The new timetable will feature changes to arrival and departure times, boosted services on weekends as well as improved operating hours on some routes.

On average, routes will experience a slight increase of one to three minutes in running time, to allow more reliable connections to train services.

Passengers can access the new timetables using the Journey Planner app.

“With the PTV app passengers can now see when their bus is arriving in real time, which means they know exactly when they need to head to their nearest stop,” Horsley says.

“Making sure we have a timetable that accurately reflects running times is really important to ensure smooth connections to other modes of transport including trains and trams.”
