Transport for NSW has managed to convince a number of major CBD employers to allow their staff to work outside of the normal hours of nine to five
Transport for NSW (TfNSW) has been recognised for its contribution towards sustainable transport, winning the Institute of Transportation Engineers Sustainable Transport Award for 2016.
The award was presented to TsNSW for its CBD travel demand management program called Travel Choices.
Acting Sydney CBD coordinator general Steve Issa says more than 620 major Sydney CBD employers have embraced the program, since it was implemented in August 2015.
“To assist with the construction impacts of infrastructure projects such as the CBD and South East Light Rail, and unprecedented number of private development, the Travel Choices program was developed to focus on CBD businesses making sustainable travel behaviour changes,” he says.
“This award is testament to the Travel Choices program and the CBD businesses who have been involved and are implementing really great initiatives to change their travel behaviour, including retiming deliveries, supporting flexible working arrangements to avoid the peak and encouraging staff to walk, cycle or use public transport instead of driving.
TfNSW has been working with businesses in the CBD, including AMP Capital, Deloitte, Lend Lease and the Opera House, by offering free advice and supporting them through the light rail construction period.
